The Apartment Association of Southern Colorado, AASC, began in 1970 as the Pikes Peak Apartment Association, to serve as the voice of the rental housing industry.
Two of its early Presidents, Jim Curry and Don Willman along with Byron Church, were the organizers of the Chapter, which originally numbered about 40 active members.
Through the years of burgeoning activity in apartments up to 1973, the Association grew steadily.
In that year, Yvonne Browning, our first full-time Executive Director, was employed.
The Board of Directors is comprised of property management leaders and supplier partners that work together to advance AASC's mission, vision and values.

With a focus on preparing apartment professionals for AASC volunteer leadership roles and career advancement, the AASC Leadership Lyceum continues along its valuable path.
Launched in 2011, this 4-day leadership development program is designed to identify, empower and inform successive waves of AASC volunteer leaders.
Candidates are nominated to participate by the staff of the Association or a Board Member.
If you are interested in this program, reach out to an AASC Board Member or e-mail april@aaschq.org.
To receive the Ethel Horton award is indeed a great honor.
This award was named after Ethel, a long-standing volunteer.
She was always there, never said no, and had a humble demeanor; she was always in the background and never expected any credit.
In 1986, a few years before Ethel passed away the AASC Board of Directors named Ethel an honorary member of the Apartment Association.
In honor of Ethel, an annual award was designated for a member of the Association for their long-standing dedicated service to not only the Association but the industry as a whole.
