In 1965, entrepreneurs Frank and Marilyn Schwantes founded the beginnings of Schwantes, Inc. by building and managing their first apartment building in Anchorage. In the following years, they purchased land and developed numerous apartment buildings across Anchorage. Their sons remained active in the company throughout their lives, heading maintenance and building new apartments and homes alongside their father.
In 1982, their two sons became part owners of the company and assumed full responsibility of the company along with Marilyn following Frank's retirement in 1987. Since that time, they have continued to build apartment buildings throughout Anchorage. Currently the company owns and manages 206 apartments. It is still owned and managed by the Schwantes Family.
